Ryker Beck’s Avimator Tutorial

When I’m not DJing I’m fooling around with content creation (for DJ and non-DJ related purposes). As a person who loves music I’m a bit creative by nature (at least I like to think so), but one thing that has always stumped me in creating better content has been animation, pose creation. Animations in Second Life are created by making .bvh’s. While Poser is a great program for making .bvh’s the the version of Poser that I have is version 5 (when it was offered for free, currently version 7 is available) and it just seems overbearing and clunky. There are things in Poser that I feel really aren’t needed for basic pose creation in Second Life. In comes two great tools geared for creating animations and poses in Second Life, Avimator and QAvimator both are basically the same program, but one (QAvimator) is more updated than the other. Oh and they are both free!

When I was first introduced to these Poser replacements I had NO clue how to use them, and there is no real definitive guide on the pose creation process. In comes Ryker Beck’s Avimator tutorial. She covers the beginning to the end in single pose creation and shares some quick tips in how to get a pose done in Avimator to Second Life. One thing I had wished she done is used QAvimator, but everything she demonstrates can be just as applied (so one program or the other it is really a matter of preference.) It’s a great tutorial for those who are beginning to do poses. I highly recommended that you download it, bookmark it, or replay it to see who is disturbing Ryker when she’s demoing (heh!)
