Wow, I’ve been tagged, I guess I’m “it”.

This is an interesting blogosphere thing, you the author get tagged, and write 8 random facts about you and then tag 8 other people, and it seems like great holiday fun. Ryker Beck tagged me and she explained the rules as such:

Here are the rules:
(1) Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
(2) People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.
(3) At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
(4) Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Hummm… before I start posting facts, I felt like rather than tagging a just my friends, I wanted to tag a few other interesting people, just to see if they would participate in it so Adam Broitman, Victor and Crew from Pure West Documentaries, Torley Linden, iJustine (which seems pretty redundant), Chris Carella, Reuben Steiger, Jeremy Vaught, and Moo Money.

So here are random facts about myself:

1. While I’m known as a hip-hop, house, trance DJ, there was a period in time I could not STAND Hip-Hop. It was during 1995 “the Golden Age” of hip-hop where the music (in my opinion) was turning for the worse. I was a huge fan and began to get sick of hearing how it was turning. That’s when I discovered house, trance and metal, and five years later I feel in love with Hip-Hop again, mainly in part to Eminiem. (If you want to know, the band that introduced me to House/Trance was The Prodigy)

2. I don’t get drunk, I get sober. Sometimes my accent even changes.

3. My favorite band is Metallica, can’t explain it, I just like them a lot (second favorite is Linkin Park). My favorite artist is Jay-Z (then Nas, Chamillionare, and Fort Minor). My Favorite DJ is Carl Cox (then Tiesto and Oakenfold).

4. I’m a really nice guy, it’s who I am and nothing is going to change that. It pisses some of my friends off (I’ve been told “Nex stop being soo damn nice!”). I’m nice; don’t read that as pushover, because I’ve been known to bite someone’s arm off.

5. The name Nexeus has a lot of meaning behind it. I always wanted to be DJ “Avalon”, Avalon being my old nickname, but when I started DJing and in Second Life the name was taken! So I had to find an alternate. Back in my role-play days I used to have a character by the name of Nexus (which was also taken when I started DJing). So I just added an “e”, and viola Nexeus was born. I chose “Nexus” as my DJ name because I’ve always felt that music connects people, events, times in place which is really interesting, while I’ve been DJing as Nexeus I’ve connected with so many people.

6. My favorite sports are football, basketball, baseball and hockey (in that order). The sports teams I despise are Miami Dolphins, The Miami Heat, The Boston Red-Sox, and the New England Patriots (even though I did root for them during their first Super Bowl against the Rams.)

7. I started tinkering (read as breaking) computers since I was 11, started web design at about 13 or 14. I started to program about 13 or 14 and have a love hate relationship with Java. Technology has been a passion of mine and before I fell in love with computers I loved trains, I still do!

8. I was a gamer and thought that MMOG’s were stupid at first. Instead of playing “Ever-Crack” I was addicted to “Flat-Crack”, or Magic: The Gathering. I added to that addiction with LARPing and running Vampire: The Masquerade table top sessions. It was Anarchy Online that got me addicted to MMOG’s (and it was really fun then!)

Here’s a bonus fact about me:

9. When I DJ, I adlib about 70% of the time. While I usually spend an hour before the event planning what I’m going to play, most of the time I throw out that playlist and start from scratch. There’s about three pieces of information that I ever need for an event, 1) The Name, 2) The purpose, 3) The Sponsors. The rest, I make up on the fly.
